Business Studies Instructor

Southern Ontario Collegiate, a private international secondary school located in Hamilton, ON seeks a qualified instructor for Business Studies courses beginning Aug. 21, 2017.

Job Description

  • Instruct students through lectures, discussions, audio-visual presentations in accordance to curriculum approved by Ontario Ministry of Education;
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and assess and evaluate students’ achievement;
  • Prepare, administer and evaluate quizzes, tests, exams, and various other evaluation tools;
  • Adherence to professional standards and SOC’s code of conduct;
  • Frequent liaisons with students and parents to further student learning and progress;
  • Prepare report cards and on-going assessment reporting;
  • Keeping daily attendance and willingness to help students in non-scheduled class time;
  • Ability to use education software;
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the school principal.

Contract: One year with option for renewal based on performance

Location: Southern Ontario Collegiate, 28 Rebecca Street, Hamilton, ON

Responsible to: Principal

Qualifications / Training

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum), preferably from North America. (essential)
  • OCT Certification (desirable) 

Experience / Knowledge

  • Proven previous experience of working in an international secondary school (essential) 
  • Cultural awareness and experience in dealing with multicultural individuals (essential) 

Skills / Abilities

  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work efficiently, accurately and calmly under pressure   (essential) 
  • Goal orientated and highly motivated.   (essential) 
  • Organized with initiative and excellent oral communication   (essential) 
  • Ability to empathise with the purpose and values of the SOC and to work effectively with all staff and students.   (essential)
